Name of Position: Manager (Civil Works) - On Contract Basis

Consolidated Pay: Rs. 40,000/- (all inclusive)

Who can apply: Officers currently working or previously worked in any of the Government Departments/ Offices in a post equivalent to the Grade Pay 5400/- and above can apply.

Age limit: 50 years as on the date of advertisement

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Civil Engineering Degree from the recognized University with excellent knowledge of Central Government Rules & Regulations, Construction Contracts & Specifications, Project Planning & Control, Quality & Safety Management and Research Methodology. Knowledge of CAD and other updated/related software will be considered as additional qualification.
  2. 15 years' experience in total in Government Organizations in the similar field.

  • The candidate needs to be forward planners, with exceptional people skills and the ability to present ideas and negotiate.
  • Good problem solving skills are essential.

Job Description
  • To be part of all tasks of the Building Division of RGCB.
  • Manage the day-to-day working, utilisation, implementation and technical consultants engaged on assignments.
  • Report progress on projects by suitable media to sector management, maintain and update project reporting, checkpoints and financial reporting to a high standard.
  • Co-ordinate required support levels and training.
  • Produce reports on each project at agreed intervals, and whenever substantive actions are required.
  • Preparing the site and liaising with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, and surveyors before construction work start.
  • Developing the program of work and strategy for making the project happen.
  • Planning ahead to prevent problems on site before they occur, for example, planning the delivery and storage of equipment and materials.
  • Making safety inspections of the site when work is underway and ensuring regulations relating to Health Safety and the Environment (HSE) are adhered to.
  • Overseeing the running of projects.
  • Using construction management software packages to plan smooth work flows.
  • Communicating with a range of people including the contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, the public and the workforce.
  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.
